Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art

The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art at the College of Charleston School of the Arts provides a multidisciplinary laboratory for the production, presentation, interpretation, and dissemination of ideas by innovative visual artists from around the world. As a non-collecting museum, we create meaningful interactions between adventurous artists and diverse communities within a context that emphasizes the historical, social, and cultural importance of the art of our time.

Helena Fox Fine Art

Located South of Broad in Historic Charleston, South Carolina, Helena Fox Fine Art  specializes in fine American representational art.

The varied collection of work mingles nationally and internationally renowned contemporary American impressionist, luminists, tonalists, contemporary realists, impressionistic landscapes and street-scapes, maritime paintings, still life’s, with wildlife sculpture by internationally acclaimed sculptor Kent Ullberg and exquisite hand-crafted 22K gold jewelry by acclaimed goldsmith, Sarah Amos.

Atrium Art Gallery

Atrium Art Gallery, located at 61 Queen Street in the heart of Charleston’s downtown French Quarter Art District.  The gallery is known for its “Exciting Art Space” featuring local, regional and national artist.  It offers contemporary, abstract, lowcountry and fine art photography.  This is a “must see” gallery in a city that is rapidly becoming a premier “destination art market cities” in the country.

Charleston Artist Collective

Charleston Artist Collective is a web-based business aimed to provide a platform for local artists to grow their potential and to provide collectors, young or experienced, access to original affordable art while giving back to Charleston area non-profits and organizations. 

Collectives are significant to the Artists’ practice by providing a vehicle for combining inspiration, ideals and approaches. Creativity loves company!

Charleston Artist Guild Gallery

The Charleston Artist Guild is proud to operate one of the finest galleries in the heart of the French Quarter. The Gallery welcomes visitors from across the United States and abroad and provides a highly visible space that fosters sales of original fine art and increases awareness of our nonprofit 501(3)(c) organization. Over 70 distinguished artists display their work in the gallery and art is refreshed every four months. Every month the Gallery highlights an artist during First Friday Artwalk with a Featured Artist Exhibition and Reception.

Art sales support the gallery and the Charleston Artist Guild (CAG)’s four Community Outreach Programs – Art of Alzheimer’s, Extraordinary Arts Program, Pattison’s Academy, and the High School Seniors Art Exhibit.

Charleston Crafts Gallery

Charleston Crafts is a juried cooperative crafts gallery owned and operated by exhibiting members since 1989. The gallery features fine crafts including woodworking, pottery, jewelry, fiber art, art to wear clothing, hand weaving, encaustic works, fused glass, and stained glass. Charleston Crafts exhibiting artisans are required to be residents of South Carolina, making this the only exclusively local craft gallery in the city.

Corrigan Gallery

Est. 2005 and located at 38 Queen Street, Charleston, South Carolina, just off the corner of Church Street in the historic area called by some the French Quarter. Corrigan Gallery represents Contemporary Charleston art and that of the Charleston Renaissance.  The emphasis is on local artists of caliber – living and working locally or with strong ties to the area.  There is a focus on printmaking following the tradition of the Charleston Etchers Club and Print Studio South, as well as,  painting, sculpture, and assemblages.

Dare Gallery

On historic Broad Street’s Gallery Row in the French Quarter of Charleston,  Dare Gallery features landscape, figurative, still life paintings plus exquisite pottery, photography, handcrafted jewelry, works in glass & metal – all by some of the most sought after artists in the low country and accomplished artists from across the nation.   

Many of the artists represented have a personal connection to Charleston and include works celebrating  the colorful tapestry of the southern coastal culture.   Visit this gallery to see crashing waves, lush marshes, still lifes of camellias & seashells, coastal wildlife and sensitive yet powerful portraits of the south.

DE LA Gallery

The DE LA Gallery is located at 36 N.Market St. in downtown Charleston, SC.  Within our inviting and refreshing space, you will find the works of Hasselblad Master Award (2018) winning photographer Jorge De La Torriente.  Jorge is a self taught photographer with a modern and minimalistic approach to his work.  Traveling all over the world, Jorge captures, in a unique way, the beauty of the landscapes, seascapes, urban life and nature that surrounds us.

Dog & Horse Fine Art

Established in 2001 by Jaynie Milligan Spector, the gallery exhibits dog and horse fine art by top quality artists in the US and Europe who create 21st century works of art, and portraits. Spector studied with Sotheby’s in London and worked as an art advisor in New York and in the Southeast. She worked in Christie’s Contemporary Art Department and at a SoHo art gallery. Spector finds the best quality artists reflecting 21st century art.  

Nineteenth and early 20th century paintings are at times on exhibit at the gallery.  With contacts from the finest sources in the US and in London, the gallery has built important collections of 19th – 21st century works for clients.

Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art

Ella Walton Richardson Fine Art is housed in an elegant and inviting historic property at 58 Broad Street in downtown Charleston, SC. We strive to meet the needs of our clients by offering them consistently exceptional artwork from our established and emerging artists. We represent a wide variety of art from traditional, impressionist paintings to more contemporary abstract styles. Since 2001 we have represented American and European artists while specializing in contemporary Russian and Dutch paintings and sculpture. New exhibitions are mounted every month for a first Friday Art Opening Event. The gallery is also a venue for special events.

Frederic Payet Gallery

Frederic Payet is an impressionist French artist whose work is inspired by the great impressionist painters like Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir etc.  His career spans over 35 years with works exhibited in fine art galleries across the globe.  With his background both as a creator and a gallery owner, Payet brings a unique perspective to the Charleston art scene. His gallery showcases a diverse range of works, featuring not only his own creations but also those of other renowned international artists.

Gordon Wheeler Gallery

Gordon Wheeler has painted many years developing his self-taught and highly personalized realistic style. He has evolved through painting with oils, watercolors, and now acrylics.

Early success while painting and printing commissioned originals for South Carolina, led to a full time career as a professional artist.  In 1990 Gordon and Paula opened their Gallery in Charleston.

Gordon achieved wide recognition when he was commissioned to paint the official prints for the 1991 Ryder Cup at the Ocean Course. He has been commissioned for several Ryder Cups,  PGA Championships, World Cups and numerous courses. His golf art is collected worldwide.

Grand Bohemian Gallery

The Grand Bohemian Gallery, located within the luxury hotels and resorts of The Kessler Collection, is one of the most eclectic and visually stimulating art galleries in the nation. The galleries were established by hotelier and art enthusiast Richard C. Kessler. The collections at the Grand Bohemian Gallery are comprised of internationally and     locally renowned artists. 

Exclusive to the Grand Bohemian Galleries are internationally-acclaimed artists Stefano Cecchini – famed Italian artist best known for his depictions of wildlife – and French Colorist Expressionist artist Jean Claude Roy. Each Grand Bohemian Gallery location hosts monthly art exhibitions and frequently offers receptions where patrons have the unique opportunity to meet each artist individually.

Hagan Fine Art

Founded in 2010, Hagan Fine Art represents over 30 acclaimed artists from around the world. In 2024, the gallery transitioned ownership while continuing its legacy of exceptional service and a dynamic mix of traditional and contemporary styles. Located at 125 Church Street, HFA hosts rotating exhibitions featuring both renowned and emerging artists. Offering paintings, sculpture, and works on paper, the gallery is dedicated to connecting collectors with outstanding and distinctive artwork. Horton Hayes Fine Art

For over a decade, Horton Hayes Fine Art has featured original works by locally and nationally recognized artists.  Subject matter in the gallery includes landscape, still-life and figurative pieces. While many of the works depict Lowcountry scenes and themes, one may also find a range of images inspired by the diverse experiences, surroundings and travels of the artists.  Co-owners Cynthia Hayes, Nancy Cagan Horton and Mark Kelvin Horton are knowledgeable about the artists they represent and are happy to answer any questions you may have and assist with your selections.

The Oldest Artist-Owned Fine Art Gallery in Charleston Celebrates 33 Years with 33 Artists. Meyer Vogl Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery located in the heart of Charleston’s bustling gallery district and historic French Quarter. Perspective Gallery

The Mount Pleasant Artists Guild (MPAG) and Perspective Gallery are a nonprofit organization.

The Perspective Gallery was founded May 2017 with a generous grant from the Mount Pleasant Artists Guild. The gallery serves to provide a space for the guild members to display and market their work.

In addition to special events several times a year the gallery also hosts workshops opportunities for private functions.

Principle Gallery Charleston

Reinert Fine Art & Sculpture Garden Gallery

Reinert Fine Art showcases the contemporary impressionist works in oil by Rick Reinert, 50 other oil painters and a bronze sculpture garden gallery. You can watch Reinert’s paintings come to life in his studio-gallery almost every day of the year. Rick shares, “If I don’t paint for one day, I feel like I’m missing something… Charleston and the lowcountry offer a lifetime of inspiration.”

Other widely recognized artists include Neil Patterson and Zhiwei Tu, OPA Masters and former Presidents of Oil Painters of America.

The gallery’s outside courtyard has been converted to a sculpture garden gallery offering fine art in bronze. Rick’s workshops and gallery events are most memorable in this new one of a kind – ‘garden’ setting.

Revealed

Revealed is a contemporary art gallery located in the French Quarter of Charleston, SC. Just a block south of the Dock Street Theater, it features a vibrant compilation of artists that vary in style and medium. Robert Lange Studios

Robert Lange Studios has been voted Best Art Gallery in Charleston for the last four years by the Charleston City Paper and Nathan Durfee has received the award for Best Visual Artist. Gallery owners Megan and Robert Lange are committed to providing a forum for art based on individuals, subjective style and awareness. An expression of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition’s passion for the great outdoors, Gallery by Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (Gallery by SEWE) is an art gallery and studio space showcasing some of the country’s finest wildlife art and artists. Celebrating the artwork and sculpture of an evolving collection of wildlife artists, Gallery by SEWE hosts curated exhibitors and artist residencies, special exhibitions, and events. Simpatico Gallery

Opening under the original name of Gallery67 in the heart of the historic Beacon Hill section of Boston Massachusetts, our quaint and beautiful space is located at 67 ½ Chestnut Street.

Upon the opening of our second location in 2022, in the beautiful historic district of Charleston South Carolina at 63 Broad Street, we decided that both locations will go by the name of Simpatico Gallery. 

Our goal at Simpatico Gallery is to furnish a range of fine art that provides both quality and individual expression from our dedicated artists. We invite all those interested in seeing unique and innovative works of art to stop by our location at 63 Broad Street.

Southern Ruetz is a custom hat studio in Charleston’s Historic French Quarter, offering an immersive hat-making experience where guests design one-of-a-kind pieces in a bright, fun, and creative space. As a full-service hat studio, we also craft our Signature handmade hats from scratch—wearable works of art designed with intention to reflect each client’s unique story and style. Upstairs, the Maker Mall showcases over 60 women and veteran-owned small businesses, featuring original art alongside a curated collection of handcrafted goods. This community-driven space highlights the artistry of local makers, from fine art to bespoke accessories, and is also home to multiple working art studios. Stevenson & Company

Stevenson & Company is a new gallery located on Charleston’s famous Queen Street. Nestled between historic homes and local shops, Stevenson & Co. is a contemporary fine art gallery and exhibition space representing Julie Messerschmidt and Elizabeth Middour. 

You can visit Stevenson & Co Tuesday – Saturday from 10-5 and Sunday from 11-4 at 50 Queen Street.

Studio 151 Fine Art Gallery

The quaintness and uniqueness of this artist owned gallery is definitely one not to miss! Located on Church Street just south of the corner of Market Street where horse drawn carriages go by hourly taking you on a tour of the French Quarter District and all the historical sites. Studio 151 Fine Arts Gallery is comprised of only South Carolina artists offering artistic impressions in fine art and jewelry.

The Gallery at Sweetgrass

THE GALLERY AT SWEETGRASS is nestled into the Sweetgrass Plaza at the Wild Dunes Resort, Isle of Palms.  The Gallery currently showcases regionally and nationally recognized artists that have created pieces celebrating the beauty, color and tranquility of our coastal locale.  

Works range from oil-painted landscapes, seascapes and streetscapes to impressionist and abstract views. In addition, the Gallery offers serene fine art photography, pottery, woodworking and jewelry. The Gallery hosts an artist-in-residence program, with featured artists who create in the Gallery while sharing their artistic passion with the Isle of Palms community and resort guests.

The Sportsman’s Gallery LTD.

For nearly 20 years, The Sportsman’s Gallery, Ltd. & Paderewski Fine Art have served collectors from around the world.  The galleries’ founder, Michael Paderewski, initially began with a primary focus on the finest in sporting and wildlife art from the 19th century to some of today’s finest painters, as a tribute to his passion for the outdoor lifestyle. The gallery has since diversified its collection to include Southern Regionalists, classical Western, Hudson River School, American Impressionist, contemporary, and fine European work.

The Vendue

Wells Gallery

The Wells Gallery is the premiere gallery at The Sanctuary Resort on Kiawah Island, dedicated to providing contemporary art works focused on the Lowcountry and Southern experience.
